iPod Shuffle Monday

I had fun with this last time, so here we go again.
  1. Petra - I Am On The Rock. This is from Beyond Belief, which is one of the few Petra albums I like. I didn't get into Christian rock until the early 90's so I missed most of the Petra albums, but Beyond Belief is catchy and I like the in-your-face lyrics. Oh, and a friend of mine in college used to change the lyrics to "I Am Mr. Spock." It was funny. It was!
  2. Steve Taylor - Bannerman. The album (Squint) was such a big deal when it came out! And, it's good, front to back. His lyrics are so clever, and the songs are super catchy. This one is about the guy who holds up the John 3:16 sign at football games. You'd think it would be cheesy, but somehow he manages not to be.
  3. Mad At The World - Not The Same. One of Cor's favorite bands, dating back to the 80's. Wow, this list is really turning out to be a capsule of what we played on the radio station I worked at in college...Christian rock and alternative. It was awesome.
  4. Michael W. Smith - For You. Definitely would not have been played on my college station, lol. What can I say, my secret love for pop music isn't all that secret.
  5. The Waiting - Unfazed. Are these guys still around? Loved Blue Belly Sky and the self-titled album (produced by Steve Hindalong!!) but the album Unfazed isn't that great. This song is kinda catchy, though.
We've been in the process of ripping our CDs to our computers and packing away the physical discs, since we never listen to them anymore and they're just collecting dust. It's been fun to go through and reminisce. Music was such a big part of our relationship in the beginning, it was a hobby to check out the new releases and discuss this producer and who did background vocals on which song. We were really into the whole Christian rock industry. Granted, it used to be much smaller. Now we are so out of touch, and old! Who are these guys playing mainstage at Cornerstone now? Actually, Cor does kind of keep up, he likes Family Force 5 and Flyleaf.

Oh my goodness, I just went to the Cornerstone website and the 77's are playing...on Main Stage. And the Lost Dogs (also Main Stage!). And Sixpence None The Richer. Cor, D&K is playing!

I like any and all Petra!

I feel the same way, I don't know any of the new Christian artists.
